  • Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons Review

Fighting Crime in Double Dragon Gaiden Recently, I've been deeply engrossed in the gang infested streets of Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, and the experience has proven to be an absolute gaming delight. Beat 'em ups hold a special place among my favorite game genres, and Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons expertly hits the sweet spot, delivering an impressive flurry of combos that truly elevate the gaming experience. Its "pick up and play" simplicity provides a therapeutic outlet for releasing stress, allowing players to unleash their fury on baddies and string together satisfying combos. The game's gorgeous pixel art and animations, and rewarding gameplay shines particularly well on my trusty Nintendo Switch. Gangs, Choices, and Gaming Ingenuity The gameplay kicks off with the selection of two tag-team characters to take on the four menacing gangs wreaking havoc on the streets. However, the real innovation lies in the game's approach to stage selection, giving players the power to decide the order of gang encounters. This not only adds replayability but introduces a welcome element of choice in a genre often marked by linear paths. The combat gameplay delivers a fun and engaging button-mashing experience. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons offers a lineup of 13 characters that boasts distinct movesets and unique skills, nine of which must be unlocked using tokens earned through gameplay. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons also incorporates a roguelite mechanic, allowing players to use the money earned from vanquishing foes to unlock upgrades for their character's skills or stats. The character's differences extends beyond cosmetic variations, as each fighter offers a genuinely different gameplay style. This innovative approach challenges players to grasp the intricacies of each character's strengths and weaknesses. For instance, Billy Lee exhibits remarkable speed, excelling in close-quarters combat with rapid combos, while Marian, armed with a gun, thrives at a distance but struggles up close. It's a commendable departure from the norm in beat 'em up games, where characters often feel interchangeable with minor adjustments to speed and damage. More Gameplay Modes Needed While the game excels in many aspects, I personally feel that there is need for additional content. Advanced difficulty options provide some replay value, but fighting against the 4 gangs over and over again can become boring after awhile. I wish that there was a 'Boss Rush' mode or a 'Royal Rumble' PVP mode to play the game in a different way. With so many well designed characters to choose from, it just feels like such a waste that there is only 1 game mode to experience. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons also only offers co-op for two players, leaving the potential for a stellar party game largely missing. With 13 characters in the lineup, the game begs for modes that embrace its multiplayer potential. A DLC introducing new modes and characters could transform this already impressive beat 'em up into a more complete package, addressing the slight sense of incompleteness that lingers.

  • Everyone is playing the Ball Lightning Sorcerer

Welcome to the electrical world of Diablo 4! In the Season of Blood, you have the exciting opportunity to delve into the game with five distinct classes, each offering a plethora of unique builds tailored to suit your preferred playstyle, OR you could be like every other player that have collectively gravitated towards the allure of the Ball Lightning Sorcerer. But why has this specific class become the go-to choice for virtually everyone and their cousins? In the previous season, the Sorcerer class garnered a lot of criticism for its weakness and because elemental resistances didn't work properly. Yet, in the current Season of Blood, it appears that the developers may have overcompensated, catapulting Sorcerers to the forefront as the undisputed champions of the game. During my exploration of Diablo 4 over the past few weeks, reaching World Tier 4 consistently revealed a prevalence of Sorcerers, with the majority embracing the Ball Lightning Sorcerer archetype. You don't even have to fight World Bosses or clear Legion Events, because they will do the job for you! This trend sheds light on an interesting aspect of the Diablo 4 player base – a collective inclination towards the most potent and user-friendly class, often at the expense of diversity. Fortunately, the developers have assured Sorcerers that their newfound dominance won't be curtailed with nerfs during this season. However, a lingering question remains – what can be done to address this concentration of Sorcerers? Personally, I advocate for more power; rather than reigning in the power of Sorcerers, perhaps the developers should consider elevating the power levels of other classes or even lightning resistances to the bosses to create a more balanced and diverse playing field. While achieving perfect balance in a game is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor for the game designers, fostering an environment where every class boasts its own formidable and unique strengths could be the key to embracing the delightful chaos of Diablo 4.

  • Exciting Diablo 4 Updates Are Coming!

Hey there bedroom gamers, the developers of Diablo 4 has just released a whole bunch of information filled with new updates and fresh content for the Season of Blood. In this article, we'll take a deep dive into the exciting additions coming to Diablo 4, offering you a glimpse of the new things coming to Sanctuary and the thrilling adventures that await. Malignant Rings and Powers Diablo 4 is about to get a shot of adrenaline with the return of Malignant Rings. These rings, scheduled for release in the upcoming patch (Nov 7th), promise to inject new life into the game by reintroducing some of the powers from the Season of Malignant, the game's very first season. if you are a new player that has just started this season, you will have the chance to experience some of the class specific abilities from the previous season. Here are the new rings, which you can attain by farming Varshan (check out how to farm the bosses here): Necromancers: "Ring Of The Sacrilegious Soul" - You automatically activate Raise Skeleton (every 2.0 - 1.0 seconds), Corpse Explosion (every 2.0 - 1.0 seconds) and Corpse Tendrils (every 16 - 8 seconds) on Corpses around you. Barbarian: "Ring Of Red Furor" - After spending 100 Fury within 3 seconds, your next Hammer of the Ancients, Upheaval, or Death Blow is a guaranteed Critical Strike and deals 10-30% bonus Critical Damage. Druid: "Airidah's Inexorable Will" - When casting an Ultimate Skill and again 5 seconds after, you Pull in Distant enemies and deal 1380 - 2760 Physical Damage to them. This damage is increased by 1.0%[x] per 1 point of WIllpower you have. Rogue: "Writhing Band Of Trickery" - When you use a Subterfuge Skill, leave behind a Decoy Trap that Taunts and lures enemies. The Shadow Decoy Trap will explode after 3.0 seconds dealing 5521 - 8281 Shadow damage. Can occur every 12 seconds. Sorcerer: "Tal'Rasha's Iridescent Loop" - For each type of Elemental Damage you deal damage with, gain 10-15[x]% increased damage for 4 seconds. Dealing Elemental Damage refreshes all bonuses. Unfortunately, as much as we love "The Barber," its revival might clash with future game mechanics due to its game-breaking potential and will not be making a return. With the introduction of the Enchanting Preview Window at the Occultist, players can now preview the affixes they might obtain when enchanting equipment. Heroes with the highest ranks will earn a place in the Seasonal Hall of Ancients, forming the much-anticipated leaderboard. If you're a Diablo 2 player, you'll undoubtedly recognize this as the hauntingly familiar backdrop of Kurast, where the infamous battle with Mephisto took place. Brace yourselves for an epic showdown as this expansion hints at a chilling encounter with the formidable Mephisto in his lair. • How to summon the new bosses in Diablo 4

The Season of Blood in Diablo 4 has brought a dark and exciting twist to the game with the introduction of five new bosses. These formidable demons are scattered across Sanctuary and offer unique challenges to adventurers, as well as rare loot drops. However, finding these bosses can be a bit tricky, and this guide aims to shed light on where to farm them in different World Tiers. How to Farm the New Bosses in Diablo 4: - Available in World Tier 3 Onwards Grigiore Materials Needed: Living Steel x2 (x5 in World Tier 4) Living Steel, along with a few Elixirs, can be obtained by opening the Tortured Gift of Living Steel found in Helltides (costing 300 Cinders). • Zombie Fantasy in Video Games

Zombie fantasy, isn't it intriguing? I've often wondered what it is about the concept of a zombie apocalypse that continues to captivate us. After all, zombies are far from pretty; they're reanimated corpses, gruesome and mangled, their existence defying all things natural. So, what makes this ghastly fantasy so popular? Perhaps it's the primal instinct it triggers within us, that innate drive for survival against all odds. Or maybe, it's the embodiment of hope - the belief that, even in the direst of circumstances, humanity can endure and persevere. It could also be the undeniable thrill of fighting the undead, free from the moral quandaries that come with ending the lives of the living. For me, the game that perfectly encapsulates the essence of a zombie apocalypse is none other than "Project Zomboid." I've talked about this game before in a previous blog post, and there's a good reason for it. It's the kind of game that keeps pulling me back, time and time again, with the promise of a unique narrative every time I delve into it. This is something that only Project Zomboid can provide. Recently, I stumbled upon a remarkable video on YouTube by MadMavn. In it, he takes us on an epic journey, surviving 300 days in Project Zomboid. Now, you might be thinking, "A two-and-a-half-hour-long video? Seriously?" Well, yes, but here's the thing - he presents it like a movie where he tells his story of survival. Throughout the video, he encounters different characters, build bases, and creates a survival crew in the midst of the zombie apocalypse. It's quite detailed, and I watched most of it, though I must say, the ending could have been better. What this video brilliantly showcases is how Project Zomboid can be a diverse and ever-evolving adventure. Each playthrough can be drastically different, especially depending on how you mod your game, and what your plans are. The possibilities are as boundless as the zombie horde itself.

  • Is Diablo 4's Season of Blood worth it? My thoughts

Season of Blood for Diablo 4 began on shaky grounds. A technical error momentarily delayed its seasonal launch, causing an initial uproar in the community. Yet, within hours, the storm subsided, and players were finally able to experience the new vampire themed season. After playing through the Season of Blood for a few hours, I felt compelled to reflect on Diablo 4's evolution and the question on my mind - is diving into Diablo 4 now going to be a rewarding experience? Season of Blood - A New Perspective: This season, I opted to experience the world through the eyes of a Druid, a deviation from my previous Diablo 4 class choices, I usually play the Necromancer, or the Barbarian. While each player's journey might differ based on their chosen class, here's how I felt playing Diablo 4's Season of Blood as a Druid. New Narrative Themes: I've always been fond of how Diablo 4 cleverly intertwines fresh narratives with every season, introducing new stories and enhancing the depth of its universe. As a sucker for vampire-themed lore, Season of Blood's vampiric elements felt like a thrilling invitation I couldn't resist, especially when Halloween is right around the corner. Enhancements and Gameplay Dynamics: Now immersed in the Season of Blood, the slew of updates from the developers stands out. I am most pleased with the new horse mechanics. Once a tad cumbersome, riding now evokes the exhilaration promised in the initial trailers, especially when dismounting to plunge into a horde of skeletons in the open world of Sanctuary. Additionally, the added stashes that were strategically positioned in all the waypoints and the optimized mob densities have successfully eliminated uneventful, prolonged treks, ensuring persistent excitement and gameplay, the when I want it. Vampiric Abilities & User Experience: The new vampire skills are also quite interesting and I have been having fun mixing and matching them to create the Vampire Druid that I envisioned. The new skills, especially "Metamorphosis", which changes the evade ability into an "unstoppable" movement skill, opens up a realm of possibilities, giving me the freedom to swap out my Trample skill, which is crucial for surviving getting crowd controlled by enemies. One thing I must say though, is that while the new Vampiric mechanics are really fun to play, the User Interface and Experience (UI/UX) aspects appear to still be a little undercooked. However, given that the developers are progressively finetuning the game, I have a lot of faith the game will improve and it's just a matter of how fast they can work. This naturally brings us back to the pressing question: In its current state, is Diablo 4 worth the commitment? Diablo 4 - Is It Worth It Now?: Diablo 4 has always been a worth it game, and most players will enjoy the game until they reach the end game. The end game is where Diablo 4 struggles to keep its players engaged as there was simply not enough to do and most players will feel like they have experienced everything the game has to offer by around level 70. The Season Blood came with a huge update that has brought in a lot of quality of life improvements as well as a lot of focus on end game content, specifically. In my opinion, the game already feels very different from the launch, as well as the previous season. For those oscillating on the fence, here's my take: Diablo 4, especially after the Season of Blood enhancements, will give you at least a solid 60 hours of immersive gameplay. Moreover, its live-service model signifies perpetual enhancements. So even if this season doesn’t resonate with you, the forthcoming ones will become even better. After all, you would want to play through the campaign first (which in my opinion is really, really interesting), and then finish the renown so that you are ready for seasonal content. Check out what Season of Blood's update brought us: Details on Season of Blood's campfire chat:

  • Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Endings

In the neon bustling streets of Night City, the arrival of the Phantom Liberty expansion has once again stirred the echoes of rebellion and redemption. As the sun sets on this dystopian future, players are not only navigating the ever-evolving narrative but also presented with a quintet of brand-new conclusions to the Phantom Liberty expansion. Cyberpunk 2077, a game that needs no introduction, has consistently captivated players with its immersive storytelling and unparalleled world-building. Phantom Liberty, the latest expansion to this iconic title, plunges us deeper into the neon-drenched, cyber-enhanced universe. And as Night City's story continues to unfold, the choices made by players will ultimately shape the fate of this metropolis. In this article, we'll venture into the heart of Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion, delving deep into the intricacies of the five new, compelling endings that await players. From impactful choices to unexpected twists, these endings promise to redefine your journey in Night City. Be warned, there will be SPOILERS ahead. But if you are ready, then get ready bedroom chooms, this is gonna be preem. How to get The King of Wands Phantom Liberty Ending Getting the "King of Wands" ending in Phantom Liberty requires specific choices during crucial missions. Here's a step-by-step guide: Firestarter: During the mission "Firestarter," choose the dialogue option "I'm with you" to assist Songbird in her escape. Killing Moon: In the mission "Killing Moon," select the dialogue option "Time to go, So Mi" to pick up Songbird. Confronting Reed: When you confront Reed in the story, choose the dialogue option "Reed, dammit!" or draw your weapon. The King of Wands Phantom Liberty Ending The "King of Wands" ending in Phantom Liberty is a bittersweet conclusion, I consider this the most satisfying and best out of all the endings in the Phantom Liberty expansion. By achieving this ending, you wholeheartedly support So Mi in her escape from Reed's control and persecution, giving her a chance to start a new life free from oppression. However, this ending comes at a price. To secure So Mi's freedom, you'll face a final standoff with Reed during the "Killing Moon" mission, ultimately leading you to kill him. You'll also gain Reed's iconic tech pistol, the Pariah, as a memento of the encounter. Once Reed is dealt with, you'll carry So Mi to the shuttle, preparing her for a journey to Luna. As you watch the rocket launch and disappear into the sky, you'll engage in a reflective conversation with Johnny about the decisions that brought you to this moment. Subsequently, two additional missions follow: "Unfinished Sympathy," where you have a conversation with Alex, revealing her mission to eliminate you but deciding not to, as she believes you'll die within six months. The next mission, "From Her To Eternity," leads you to contact So Mi, who guides you to retrieve a Metal Pin from Tycho on Luna, confirming her well-being. In this mission, you'll also acquire So Mi's iconic cyberware, the Quantum Tuner. The cost of this seemingly happy ending is that, as Johnny warns, the possibility of a cure from the Phantom Liberty storyline becomes lost forever. This ending doesn't offer the alternative Tower ending path, effectively concluding the Phantom Liberty story. After completing "Killing Moon" and the subsequent missions, the Phantom Liberty storyline wraps up, allowing you to continue playing the base game of Cyberpunk 2077. How to get The King of Swords Phantom Liberty Ending The "King of Swords" ending in Phantom Liberty can be obtained by following these steps: Firestarter: In the "Firestarter" mission, choose the dialogue option "I'm with you" to aid Songbird in her escape. Killing Moon: During the "Killing Moon" mission, opt for the dialogue choice "Reed'll take care of you" to call Reed. Alternatively, in the same mission, you can pick "Time to go, So Mi" to pick up Songbird. Confronting Reed: When the showdown with Reed occurs, select the dialogue option "All yours, but you'll help me live on" to holster your weapon. The King of Swords Phantom Liberty Ending The "King of Swords" ending unfolds when you assist So Mi in escaping during the "Firestarter" mission, only to later hand her over to Reed during "Killing Moon." You'll let Reed carry So Mi to the NUSA shuttle. A few days later, you'll receive a call from Reed, saying he wants to leave Night City. Reed's curiosity leads him to ask why Songbird initially contacted you instead of him. He departs after promising you a cure to your Johnny Silverhand virus. By achieving this ending, you'll earn the "King of Swords" achievement, effectively concluding the Phantom Liberty expansion, and unlocking an optional alternative ending in the base Cyberpunk 2077 game known as "The Tower." How to get The King of Pentacles Phantom Liberty Ending The "King of Pentacles" ending in Phantom Liberty can be obtained by following these specific steps: Firestarter: In the "Firestarter" mission, opt for the dialogue choice "One more second..." to assist Reed in capturing Songbird. Somewhat Damaged: During the "Somewhat Damaged" mission, choose the option "That's not a solution!" Choose "Won't do it" in the mission "Somewhat Damaged" when faced with the decision not to kill So Mi. The King of Pentacles Phantom Liberty Ending In my view, the "King of Pentacles" ending is among the most depressing conclusions you can reach. In this ending, you aid Reed in capturing So Mi during the "Firestarter" mission. Later, you refuse to help So Mi when you find her as a Blackwall machinery slave. Later you will receive another mission called "Four Score And Seven," where you engage in a conversation with Reed. This conversation prompts Reed to ponder the events that have unfolded and reflect on what it reveals about his character. Reed will ask for your advice on whether he should return to DC. At this point, you have the option to continue with the base story of Cyberpunk 2077 as usual or embark on the additional mission paths, ultimately leading to "Who Wants To Live Forever" and "Things Done Changed." Completing these missions will unlock the "Tower" ending within Cyberpunk 2077. How to get the King Of Cups Phantom Liberty Ending To attain the "King of Cups" ending in Phantom Liberty, you'll need to follow these precise steps: Firestarter: In the "Firestarter" mission, select the dialogue option "One more second..." to support Reed in capturing Songbird. Somewhat Damaged: During the "Somewhat Damaged" mission, when faced with the choice "OK. I'll do it," you must make this critical decision - to kill So Mi. The King of Cups Phantom Liberty Ending The "King of Cups" ending is done by helping Reed apprehend Songbird during the "Firestarter" mission and then, in the "Somewhat Damaged" mission, end So Mi's suffering by taking her life. It is, in my opinion, the saddest conclusion among all the possible endings. Following the decision in "Somewhat Damaged," you'll proceed to the last Phantom Liberty mission, titled "Leave In Silence." During this mission, you'll accompany Reed to a meeting with Myers, who rewards you with a NUSA badge of honor for your role in capturing Songbird. In addition, you receive a meager 5,000 credits, a clear indication of Myers' disappointment with your choice to help So Mi find peace. Afterward, you'll engage in one final conversation with Reed before the end credits for Phantom Liberty start to roll. How to get the Fifth Phantom Liberty "Ending" To unlock the fifth "ending" in Phantom Liberty, you must follow these specific steps: Firestarter: During the "Firestarter" mission, opt for the dialogue choice "I'm with you." This selection entails helping Songbird make her escape. Killing Moon: In the "Killing Moon" mission, select the option "Time to go, So Mi," signifying your decision to pick up Songbird. Confrontation with Reed: When you inevitably face Reed, choose the dialogue option "Take her. Don't want nothin' in return." Decrypting the Mysterious Fifth "Ending" The fifth "ending" is a bit of an enigma. It doesn't truly qualify as a comprehensive ending to the Phantom Liberty expansion but rather resembles an abrupt exit from the storyline. You assist Songbird in escaping during "Firestarter," then pick her up during "Killing Moon." However, the critical part happens when Reed confronts you at the shuttle, and you decide, "Take her. Don't want nothin' in return." If you do this, Reed won't contact you after departing with So Mi, and your involvement with Phantom Liberty will end right there. I would recommend against pursuing this path, as it doesn't offer a fulfilling conclusion. It's perplexing why the developers included this option in the first place. Cyberpunk 2077 Tower ending If you've pursued either the King Of Swords or the King Of Pentacles ending in Phantom Liberty, you unlock the possibility of a new ending to the base game. You will gain access to an optional alternative ending within the vanilla Cyberpunk 2077 narrative, during the mission "Nocturne OP55N1." This new conclusion is referred to as the "Tower ending" and involves you doing a pair of Phantom Liberty missions: Who Wants To Live Forever Things Done Changed Throughout these two missions, your journey takes a detour as you depart Night City, embarking on a voyage to undergo a groundbreaking procedure designed to cure you of the debilitating Johnny Silverhand virus. Upon awakening, Reed tells you that two years have past, and that the surgery has proven successful, but a price must be paid. All your chrome enhancements is lost, marking the conclusion of your career as a battle-hardened mercenary. There you have it choom! Which ending did you do? And did you enjoy the Phantom Liberty expansion? Can't get enough of Cyberpunk 2077? Why not check out the Cyberpunk 2077 comic books?

  • Punching, Kicking, and Gaming: A Beat 'Em Up Deep Dive

The beat 'em up genre might not be familiar for everyone, but it occupies a specific niche within action games. Here, gamers will play as a character, battling through hordes of enemies in side-scrolling environments (Belt Scrolling Games). My first ever experience with this genre was "Golden Axe". Me and my friends used to sneakily play the game in primary school during our computer lab classes. Back in the '90s when these games were everywhere, I never really distinguished them as a "genre". They were just... well, games. Games where you picked a character, plowed through as many stages as possible, and if you were skillful enough and luck was on your side, you would square off against the final boss. History of the Beat 'Em Up Genre In a Beat 'em up, the gameplay loop basically revolves around confronting relentless waves of enemies within a side-scrolling 2D environment. Traditionally, the games in this genre will offer linear progression through a series of stages, unfolding the game's story and narrative, peaking in a climactic showdown with the final boss. The controls are also pretty straightforward, often just one or two attack buttons that generate combos, plus a jump button. As you play the game, you'll come across health-boosting pickups, potent weapons that may even grant you new move sets until the weapon breaks. It was the one of the only gaming options if you wanted to play side by side with a friend against computer enemies. The beat 'em up genre's golden era was during the late '80s all the way through the '90s, championed by titles like "Double Dragon," "Golden Axe," "Final Fight," and "Streets of Rage". Most classic beat 'em ups came from Japan, and their stories usually centered around battling street gangs and their over-the-top bosses. Eventually, 3D graphics took the gaming world by storm, and the beat 'em up genre of games eventually died out as game developers started focusing on newer ideas. Beat 'Em Ups in Modern Times In the recent years, many new beat 'em up games have emerged. Fresh titles like "Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge," "Streets of Rage 4," and the "River City Girls" series have brought the genre to a new era of young gamers. They've maintained the core beat 'em up charm while weaving in modern-day enhancements. For example: "River City Girls" introduces in-game currency for buying combo skills as well as an open exploration of zones, while "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge" offers expansive multiplayer options and a leveling system. I especially love it when the developers use retro pixel art as the game's artstyle, as pixel art really has a certain kind of charm that 3D simply doesn't. Nintendo Switch and Beat 'Em Ups: A Perfect Match If you ask me, the Nintendo Switch is THE platform for beat 'em up gaming. Its portability, coupled with its seamless start and stop feature, makes it the best experience for me. I can brawl through a couple of stages, hit pause, and then dive right back in whenever. I have also recently developed an obsession to collect as many beat 'em up games as I can and add them to my Nintendo Switch game library. The eShop's ever-rotating sales also helps with saving money while making collecting every beat 'em up title an exciting chase. Top Beat 'Em Up Games to Play Today on the Nintendo Switch These are list of some of the best beat em up games on the switch you should play in my opinion. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Characters (Including Unlockables): 7 (+2 DLC) Stages: 16 Players: 1 - 6 Players Scott Pilgrim VS The World: The Game Complete Edition Characters (Including Unlockables): 7 Stages: 7 Players: 1 - 4 Players River City Girls Characters (Including Unlockables): 4 Stages: 6 Zones Players: 1 - 2 Players River City Girls 2 Characters (Including Unlockables): 6 Stages: 8 Zones Players: 1 - 4 Players Fight'N Rage Characters (Including Unlockables): 3 Stages: 10 Players: 1 - 3 Players Streets of Rage 4 Characters (Including Unlockables): 21 Stages: 12 Players: 1 - 4 Players Final Vendetta Characters (Including Unlockables): 3 Stages: 6 Players: 1 - 2 Players The TakeOver Characters (Including Unlockables): 4 Stages: 7 Players: 1 - 2 Players Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons Characters (Including Unlockables): 13 Stages: 4 Players: 1 - 2 Players Capcom beat 'Em Up Bundle This is Capcom's collection of 7 classic Beat 'Em Up games. Why I Love Beat 'Em Ups So what's the allure of beat 'em ups for me? A combination of nostalgia and pure, unadulterated gaming joy. Most modern games today demand a level of commitment before you can start having fun, beat 'em ups however, allows me to immediately have fun the moment I jump into the stage with my chosen character. The simplistic yet rewarding mechanics of beat 'em up games allow players to feel accomplished with minimal effort, epitomizing the essence of gaming. Completing stages, defeating bosses, and mashing buttons and witnessing your character perform cool combo chains is really the purest form of entertainment a gamer can have.

  • The Best Nintendo Switch Games You Must Play

Hey there, fellow bedroom gamers! The Nintendo Switch might be showing it's age right now, but it is still a fantastic handheld console with a plethora of fantastic games that can prove to be timeless fun even years from now. If you're on the lookout for a good collection of games that are not only my personal favorites but also must-haves for your Nintendo Switch, you've landed in the right place. This list is a labor of love, my personal recommendation of the 10 absolute best titles that you can play on the Nintendo Switch right now. These games have been carefully curated and ranked. Let's start with one of my personal favourites - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. #10 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge If you're a fan of arcade-style beat 'em up games, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge stands out as one of the best in this genre. With seven unique characters, each with their own distinct move sets and gameplay style, you engage in combo-filled button mashing fights against Shredder's army of foot soldiers. The game recently received the Dimension Shellshock DLC, an affordable addition featuring two exciting characters, Miyamoto Usagi and Karai, along with a new survival game mode. While I often play this solo, I think it truly shines as Nintendo Switch's top choice for co-op beat 'em up gameplay during social gatherings. You can play this couch co-op on a single Joy-Con with your friends, allowing up to six players to join in. #9 The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) A classic Legend of Zelda game from the Gameboy era, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening offers a delightful throwback experience. While it isn't the open-world style gameplay of Breath of the Wild; it faithfully embraces the classic top down Legend of Zelda charm that fans love. This game, with its casual and lighthearted atmosphere, captivated me with its outstanding music and touching story. If you've played the original version like I have, this remake will give you a strong sense of nostalgia. The art style was a little weird at first, but it quickly grew on me and I started to really like the cutesy characters. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a really good remake that faithfully follows the original and I consider this game an underrated gem to the Nintendo Switch. #8 Shin Megami Tensei V (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) Shin Megami Tensei games are known for their hardcore JRPG experiences. If you've indulged in Persona games before, you'll find yourself right at home. In Shin Megami Tensei V, you step into the shoes of a Tokyo high school student. Your life takes a dark twist when you become embroiled in a mysterious murder incident one day after school. You eventually become the Nahobino and gain the power to command demons in your fight against the forces of darkness. Think of this game as a more mature and grimy version of Pokemon. You'll battle demons, recruit them, and even fuse them to create more powerful allies. If you love JRPGs, or if you've played Persona games and enjoyed it, I would really suggest checking this game out. Shin Megami Tensei V is also one of the most visually stunning games on the Nintendo Switch. #7 Persona 5 Royal Persona 5 Royal, is the latest entry in the Persona series brought to you on the Nintendo Switch. Like Shin Megami Tensei V, it features demon battles, recruitment, and fusion, but what makes it special is the "life sim" game mechanic. You're a high school student with the freedom to choose your path - you can prioritize forging friendships and building bonds (even date), train to become stronger by hunting demons, or even choose to study so that you get better grades in school. This entry is the most stylish one of all the Persona games, and one that has a really good story. I fully recommend this game on the Nintendo Switch if you like any JRPGs at all. #6 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is timeless classic remains fun no matter how many times you have played it. Though released alongside the Nintendo Switch seven years ago, it's still an absolute blast to play, especially with friends and family. The quick races, lasting just a few minutes, make it an ideal choice for those moments when you want to take a break from everything and just unwind. There are so many racing kart games to choose from these days, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains as the best kart racing game on the Nintendo Switch in my opinion. If you haven't already, I highly recommend giving it a spin. #5 Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak The Monster Hunter series, once a niche, gained significant popularity with Monster Hunter World in 2018. Now, we have Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, the latest installment, offering portable monster hunting on the Nintendo Switch. You'll track monsters, explore their habitats, and learn their behaviors before entering epic combat with a weapon of your choice. The diversity of weapons and their unique play styles really adds depth to the gameplay as you hone your skills and master new ways to hunt each unique monster. After defeating a monster, you have the choice to capture or kill and carve it for valuable parts. This loop may sound straightforward, but it's incredibly engaging and addictive. Personally, Monster Hunter Rise ranks among my all-time favorite Nintendo Switch games and it's definitely worth a try. #4 Pokemon Sword & Shield (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) With each new Nintendo gaming device, we anticipate fresh Pokemon games. Among the several Pokemon titles for the Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Sword & Shield stands out as the best one in my opinion. Despite not including all Pokemon species, it offers a substantial base game and even more content through The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLCs. This game will provide you with many hours of catch 'em all fun. There are also other available Pokemon games, such as Pokemon Arceus, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Pokemon Snap, and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee. #3 Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a must-have for fans of tile based, turn-based strategy games. This Nintendo Switch gem offers many many of content, thanks to its three houses, each with charming characters with their own captivating storylines. Playing through different houses feels like playing entirely different games, largely due to the compelling interactions within each house. Personally, I played the Blue Lions house and grew genuinely fond of the characters; their well-crafted development is a testament to excellent RPG storytelling. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I dived into Fire Emblem: Three Hopes, a musou spin-off of this fantastic title. There is also the new Fire Emblem: Engage, which is also really good. #2 Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) Ahhh Cosy games. Cosy games have gained immense popularity, largely thanks to the Animal Crossing series. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the original and ultimate cosy game on the Nintendo Switch, offering an insane amount of content and creative freedom. You can renovate your island, play at your own at your own pace, engage in activities like fishing, fossil hunting, and make friends with the island's charming residents. It's like having a serene vacation experience on your Switch, this a game I consistently return to when in need of a comforting and nostalgic gaming escape. #1 The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom (Nintendo Switch Exclusive) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a groundbreaking entry in the Zelda franchise, and The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom builds upon its legacy. Using the same engine, it retains the game's visual style. However, it introduces a new creative mechanic that allows you to craft vehicles, weapons, and basically anything you can imagine, adding a whole new layer of depth to the gameplay. It's a substantial, challenging, and expansive adventure that can keep you engrossed for countless hours, even without delving into the main storyline. If you own a Nintendo Switch, Tears Of The Kingdom is an absolute must-have, and one that truly deserves to be in your library. And there you have it, my top 10 curation of Nintendo Switch games, it's evident that this beloved console has stood the test of time. Though the Nintendo Switch may be old and showing it's age, it remains the reigning champ in the realm of handheld gaming devices. Its impressive library of games that continues to grow, like the ones we've explored here, continues to deliver memorable experiences that keep players coming back for more. So, whether you're on the go or laying in bed at home, the Nintendo Switch is your trusty companion for countless adventures, proving that old can indeed be gold when it comes to gaming.

  • Diablo 4's Season of Blood is coming, my thoughts.

Diablo 4's Bloody Halloween Diablo 4's Season 2, known as the 'Season of Blood,' is on the horizon, and I am quite excited. Diablo 4's first season, 'The Season of the Malignant,' left many players feeling underwhelmed, and while I personally had some fun, it fell short of delivering the satisfying end game experience I was hoping for. Season 1 simply didn't meet the expectations of many players looking for a more robust end game. I'm really hoping that the Season of Blood will surpass the shortcomings of its predecessor. However, if I'm honest, I'm not entirely convinced yet that it will address the end game issues I've been longing for. Playing Diablo 4 has made me nostalgic for the days of grinding rifts in Diablo 3, and I yearn for a similar game mode in Diablo 4. I feel that it's not about making the end game overly complex. Diablo 4 thrives on its simplicity, setting it apart from games like Path of Exile, which I truly appreciate. I'm seeking a casual, straightforward action RPG experience where I don't have to obsess over min-maxing my gear. I just want to have some fun killing hordes of demons and have a satisfying time leveling up my character. Some argue that Diablo 4's nightmare dungeons are akin to pushing rifts in Diablo 3, but are they really? For me, I want to see my character level up rapidly and effortlessly. Ideally, I'd like to gain 2-3 levels with each dungeon run. However, in the case of pushing nightmare dungeons in Season 1, it felt more like leveling up once every 20 dungeons (I know I may be exaggerating). I believe Diablo 4 should consider introducing a rebirth system, allowing players to reach level 100 within a matter of hours, and then continue leveling beyond that point. This is a concept I hope Blizzard would explore in the future. Nevertheless, let's take a closer look at what Diablo 4's upcoming season, the 'Season of Blood,' has in store for us. Vampire-Themed Questline: I'm thrilled about the upcoming vampire-themed questline in Season 2. As a fan of vampires, this addition is right up my alley. The main star of the show this time is Erys, a Vampire Hunter, and you follow her on her journey to fight back blood sucking vampires and their vampire lord, Lord Zir, that have awoken and invaded Sanctuary. To be honest, I actually really enjoy how Diablo 4's seasonal updates always inject some storytelling into the game. Imagine 20-30 seasons of short stories, not bad. Empower Your Character with New Bloody Abilities: Season of Blood will introduce 22 Vampiric Abilities. The new powers in this seasonal update is arguably the most pivotal aspect of Season 2. It has the potential to be a game-changer, although it doesn't necessarily address the endgame concerns in my opinion. Unlike the Malignant Hearts in Season 1, the new Vampiric Abilities are not unique to any class, so every class can equip these abilities, as long as you meet the gear requirement - you'll need to slot in Pacts into the Pact slots of your armor. For example, you can slot Pact of Divinity into 6 of your armor slots, which will then allow you to equip a Vampiric ability of that activation cost. New Seasonal World Events: Season 2 brings with it new seasonal world events, including 2 local events and 7 dungeon events. From what I understand, this will work quite similarly to Helltides. While this expands the content, I'm curious about how much it will truly transform or improve the game, given the substantial number of dungeons already present in the base game. New Vampiric Equipment: I'm hoping that the promise of new gear also means we are getting new free cosmetics for our characters. While what we have now is pretty alright, I hope that the free arsenal of cosmetic grows every season. The Season of the Malignant (season 1) gave us a free but ugly cosmetic set. I hope they do better this time. Formidable Endgame Bosses: Diablo 4's Season of Blood introduces five challenging new endgame bosses, if you include Season 1's Varshan. This seems to be the vision for the endgame in this season - leveling up your character and then taking on these formidable bosses to farm unique equipment specific to each of them. It's an interesting shift from the traditional dungeon loot grind, and while it may look promising, we can only know if it works through actual gameplay. I'm eager to see if these unique drops will be enticing enough to make farming them enjoyable. ReVAMPed Quality of Life features: Finally, the frustration with the pre-Season 2 gem system will be addressed, as gems are now materials that don't take up our valuable inventory space. There will also be no need to do renown all over again (thank you, truely). Scroll of Escape will automatically be consumed upon disconnecting in Hardcore mode. Generally more experience gained from playing the game, this means leveling up faster. 10 Unlocked waypoints, 2 in each zone. Why not all? I don't see the point in making us run through all of them again. Stashes can be more easily found in towns now, I think they added a few to each town and nearer to the waypoint. Mounts can now jump over blockades. The developers also mentioned better control and faster speed boost for mounts. We now teleport INTO the Nightmare Dungeon, instead of outside. Paragon Glyph experience increased. No more annoying dungeon objectives. Now we just need to find and kill the boss inside the dungeon. This is a winner. We can now lock our items, so that they cannot be sold or salvaged accidentally. Diablo 4 and Blood Powers Let's Go: We are about a week away from Season of Blood and there are a lot of changes that we will be seeing when the patch drops. I am spending my time thinking about which class would feel best as a vampire. I bet Necromancers are going to be really popular again this time. I might go for the Sorcerer this time. What about you?

Without further ado, let's dive right into these 10 free games on Steam! 🎮✨ Final Fantasy 14 (MMORPG) What is "Final Fantasy 14"? "Final Fantasy 14" is an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) that has garnered a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim over the years. The game's superb free trial offers an incredible amount of content, including the base game, "A Realm Reborn," and the first two expansions, "Heavensward" and "Stormblood." This expansive free trial allows players to experience the entire main story, from the base game to the expansions, without requiring them to team up with other players if you choose to play solo. This approach gives players a more traditional Final Fantasy experience, making it a standout in the modern MMORPG genre. Why You Should Play "Final Fantasy 14": Vast Amount of Content: The free trial of "Final Fantasy 14" is a treasure trove of content. Players have praised it for offering one of the most extensive free trial experiences in any game. The inclusion of the base game and two expansions provides countless hours of gameplay, making it an ideal choice for those looking to delve into a rich, immersive world without immediate financial commitment. Emotional Connections: One player's heartwarming story highlights how the game brought a father and son closer together. In a world where it can be challenging to find common ground with family members, "Final Fantasy 14" provided an avenue for quality bonding time. The game's cooperative elements and shared adventures can create lasting memories for players of all ages. Engaging Storytelling: While some players initially found the game's story unappealing, they eventually became captivated by it. While it may not be the most groundbreaking narrative in the Final Fantasy series, players find it enjoyable and compelling. The anticipation for the expansions further enhances the storytelling experience. Traditional Final Fantasy Feel: Despite being an MMO, "Final Fantasy 14" manages to capture the essence of a single-player Final Fantasy game. Its combination of engaging storytelling, character development, and iconic elements from the franchise makes it stand out among MMORPGs. Why You Might Want to Avoid: Leveling Up Too Quickly: Some players have noted that the experience gain in the free trial can be excessive, leading to over-leveled characters before completing the base game's storyline. This can potentially disrupt the natural progression and challenge of the game. Subscription Requirement: While the free trial offers substantial content, players who wish to continue beyond the trial must subscribe to the game. This subscription model might not be suitable for those who prefer entirely free-to-play games. Platform Considerations: Players have raised concerns about purchasing the game on Steam, especially if you plan to continue playing. Owning the game on Steam comes with certain limitations and potential complications, such as regional price differences and lack of benefits compared to getting it directly from the Square Enix launcher. Steam's sales for the expansions might also be less frequent and less cost-effective than buying from Square Enix's store. In conclusion, "Final Fantasy 14" offers an outstanding free trial experience with a plethora of content and the potential to forge meaningful connections with fellow adventurers. It combines the best elements of traditional Final Fantasy games with the MMO genre, making it a compelling choice for fans of both. However, potential players should be aware of the leveling pace and platform-related considerations before diving into this virtual realm. Neverwinter (MMORPG) What is "Neverwinter"? "Neverwinter" is a free-to-play action MMORPG set in the beloved Dungeons & Dragons universe. Developed by Cryptic Studios, this game offers an immersive fantasy world filled with epic stories, action-packed combat, and classic roleplaying elements. It seeks to build on the lessons learned from previous MMORPGs, making it a polished and engaging experience for players. Why You Should Play "Neverwinter": Character Customization: "Neverwinter" boasts an impressive character customization system. Players have a wide array of classes and races to choose from, each with its unique abilities and playstyles. The extensive selection of equipment and weapons adds depth to gameplay, allowing for diverse character builds and strategies. Abundant Content: The game offers a wealth of quests, missions, dungeons, and raids, ensuring that players have plenty of content to enjoy. The engaging storyline immerses players in the world of Neverwinter, making their adventures feel meaningful and exciting. Additionally, the active and helpful in-game community makes it easy to find groups for dungeons and raids, fostering a sense of camaraderie among players. Recent Updates: While "Neverwinter" has undergone changes over the years, it remains a game worth revisiting. Recent developments, including Gearbox's acquisition of the intellectual property, have injected new life into the game. The mechanics may have evolved, but the game's playability remains high, and the sheer volume of content ensures that players can continue to enjoy their adventures. Why You Might Want to Avoid: Pay-to-Win Concerns: Some players have expressed dissatisfaction with the game's monetization model. They claim that certain quests and features are locked behind paywalls, and the game has a tendency to render old gear nonfunctional through surprise updates, encouraging players to spend money on new equipment. Significant Content Removal: Longtime players have lamented the removal of a substantial portion of the game's content over the years. Side quests, areas, and the length of the main questline have been noticeably reduced. This has led to a perception that the game has lost some of its depth and variety. Changes to Character Builds: Character customization has been affected by changes in the game's mechanics. Tank classes, for instance, share the same stats as rogue characters, leading to imbalances. Players can no longer select gear with stats that suit their needs, as there's now only one line of armor for each character class. Loss of Exploration and Engagement: The removal of side quests and content has limited players' reasons to explore the game world, resulting in a lack of engagement. The world feels less vibrant and interactive, which can make the game feel dull and uninviting. In summary, "Neverwinter" offers an expansive and immersive MMORPG experience, especially for those who enjoy character customization, diverse quests, and fans of the Dungeons and Dragons franchise. Recent updates have injected fresh energy into the game. However, concerns about pay-to-win elements, significant content removal, and changes to character builds may deter some players from fully enjoying what the game has to offer. Eve Online (MMORPG) What is "Eve Online"? "Eve Online" is an iconic and long-standing MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game that has recently transitioned to a subscription-free model, making it accessible to a broader audience. Unlike traditional RPGs that cast you as a hero on a predetermined path, "Eve Online" places you in a vast, player-controlled universe as a cog in a much larger machine. In this sandbox environment, you have the freedom to choose your own path, whether it's becoming a trader facilitating commerce or climbing the corporate ladder within a corrupt corporation. The game offers hundreds of gameplay hours and a multitude of possibilities for players to explore. Why You Should Play "Eve Online": Unprecedented Freedom: "Eve Online" is a game where you're not restricted to predefined roles or classes. You can forge your own destiny in the universe, whether that means trading goods, participating in corporate espionage, or exploring the far reaches of space. The game's open-ended nature allows for a customizable and unique adventure. Evolution of New Player Experience: Over the years, "Eve Online" has evolved, offering an improved new player experience. The addition of career agents and tutorials has made the game more accessible to newcomers. In-game tools that were once third-party necessities, such as ship fitting simulations, are now readily available, streamlining the learning curve. Incredible Immersion: "Eve Online" offers an incredibly immersive experience, with its expansive universe, stunning graphics, and diverse career opportunities. The game's sheer magnitude can be awe-inspiring, providing a sense of scale and depth that few other games can match. Community and Corporation Play: While you can certainly play "Eve Online" solo, the game truly comes alive when you engage with other players and join corporations. Why You Might Want to Avoid: High Learning Curve: "Eve Online" is known for its steep learning curve. New players may find it challenging to navigate the complexities of the game, particularly if they're unfamiliar with MMOs or space-based simulations. Shift Toward PvP: The game has evolved to prioritize player-versus-player (PvP) experiences, which may not be appealing to those seeking peaceful gameplay. The absence of secure, high-security spaces can make activities like mining and industry more challenging. Veteran Dominance: The game's long-standing player base, many of whom have been playing for over a decade, can create a challenging environment for newcomers. New players may feel at the mercy of experienced players and encounter difficulties in finding a niche or meaningful tasks to pursue. Subscription and Gameplay Concerns: Some players have expressed concerns about the lack of engaging gameplay, regardless of whether they subscribe or not. They cite the dominance of veteran players and the limited opportunities for new players to make meaningful progress. In summary, "Eve Online" offers an unparalleled sandbox experience with freedom, immersion, and complexity. However, the steep learning curve, emphasis on PvP, and dominance of long-term players can be challenging for newcomers. Whether you should play "Eve Online" depends on your appetite for a deep and complex MMO, as well as your willingness to navigate its unique challenges and opportunities. Naraka Bladepoint (Battle Royale) What is "Naraka Bladepoint?" "Naraka Bladepoint" is a unique take on the battle royale genre that shifts the focus away from guns and towards a more close-quarter melee combat gameplay style. This game offers a combat system that is both accessible for newcomers and deep enough for mastery, providing players with a variety of movement options and even magical abilities to outwit their foes. "Naraka Bladepoint" showcases the untapped potential of the last-fighter-standing formula, with engaging, tactical, and rewarding melee combat. Why You Should Play "Naraka Bladepoint": Engaging Melee Combat: The game's emphasis on melee combat sets it apart from traditional battle royales. Engage in intense battles using various weapons, including staffs, swords, greatswords, and dual blades. The combat gameplay is reminiscent of chinese kung-fu and wuxia films, offering fast-paced, skill-based sword clashes. Impressive Customization: "Naraka Bladepoint" boasts a wide range of skins and customization options. Players can personalize their characters to a high degree, allowing for unique and stylish appearances. Challenging Gameplay: If you seek a challenging gaming experience, "Naraka Bladepoint" delivers. The game features a high skill floor and ceiling, offering a satisfying learning curve for players who enjoy mastering their abilities and outplaying opponents. Quality of Life Features: The game comes with several quality of life features that enhance the overall experience. Players can receive numerous gifts and rewards by simply playing the game, especially when teaming up with friends. Why You Might Want to Avoid: Spammy Monetization: Some players have raised concerns about the game's monetization tactics. It can be seen as overly persistent in encouraging players to make in-game purchases. The "are you sure?" prompt upon exiting the game and the constant pitch of RNG purchases have frustrated some users. Short-Term Enjoyment: A few players have found that the game's enjoyment tends to wane after approximately 20 to 30 hours of gameplay, especially when playing without friends. This may be attributed to repetitive gameplay or a lack of long-term engagement. Optimization and Lag Issues: Some players criticize its optimization, experiencing high ping and reporting hitbox issues. The combat system, while engaging, may feel somewhat frustrating when its laggy, particularly when being pursued by multiple opponents. In conclusion, "Naraka Bladepoint" offers a fresh and engaging take on the battle royale genre with its focus on melee combat, impressive customization, and skill-based gameplay. However, players should be prepared for the game's spammy monetization tactics and potential for short-term enjoyment, as well as potential technical issues like optimization and lag. Ultimately, "Naraka Bladepoint" is a compelling choice for those seeking a different battle royale experience. Crusader Kings 2 (Turn Based Strategy) What is "Crusader Kings 2?" "Crusader Kings 2" is an intricate grand strategy game that offers players a historical sandbox set in medieval Europe. Starting at various points between 1066 and 1337 and spanning until 1453, the game allows you to step into the shoes of Christian lords, ensuring the survival and prosperity of your dynasty over generations. The game focuses on gaining prestige, expanding your feudal domain, navigating complex court politics, and dealing with the ever-present threat of external invaders and threats to your dynasty's rule. With different starting points, character choices, and strategies, you can have countless hours of gameplay without ever repeating the same story. Why You Might Want to Avoid: Steep Learning Curve: "Crusader Kings 2" is notorious for its steep learning curve. New players may find themselves overwhelmed by the complex mechanics, leading to a frustrating initial experience. Extensive tutorials and online resources may be necessary to grasp the game fully. Lack of Clear Objectives: The game is open-ended, lacking specific win conditions or objectives. While this freedom appeals to some players, others may prefer games with defined goals and victory conditions. RNG and Unpredictability: Random events and the unpredictability of AI characters can sometimes lead to frustrating and seemingly unfair outcomes. Your best-laid plans can be derailed by unforeseen circumstances. Monetization: Some players have expressed concerns about the game's monetization strategy. As of the writing of these reviews, there was a shift towards pay-to-unlock content, which some players found off-putting. In conclusion, "Crusader Kings 2" is a grand strategy masterpiece known for its complexity, historical depth, and dynasty management. If you're a fan of the genre and enjoy deep, open-ended experiences, this game offers countless hours of enjoyment. However, be prepared to invest time in learning the mechanics, and keep in mind that its open-ended nature may not appeal to everyone. Additionally, concerns about monetization practices should be considered when deciding to play this game. Island Saver (FPS) What is "Island Saver?" "Island Saver" is a family-friendly, free-to-play game that combines elements of environmental awareness and financial education with fun, interactive gameplay. In this game, players find themselves on a group of beautiful but polluted islands where plastic waste has washed up, threatening the environment and its inhabitants. It's easy to pick up and play, making it accessible to a wide range of players. Cost-Friendly: The base game of "Island Saver" is entirely free to play, making it accessible to anyone. While there are optional DLCs available for purchase, the core game provides a meaningful experience without any cost. Why You Might Want to Avoid: Repetitive Gameplay: Some players may find the gameplay loop of collecting trash, cleaning gunk, and delivering materials to be repetitive, especially as you progress through the game. The core mechanics don't vary significantly throughout the experience. Backtracking: To progress in the game, you may need to backtrack through platforming sections to find and deliver materials. This can become tedious for some players. Linear Progression: "Island Saver" follows a relatively linear progression, and there isn't a lot of open-ended exploration or complex decision-making. If you prefer games with more freedom and complexity, this may not be the best fit for you. In conclusion, "Island Saver" is a free-to-play game that offers a blend of entertainment and education. It's particularly well-suited for families and younger players who can benefit from its valuable lessons about ecology and money management. While it may not provide the depth or complexity found in some other games, its positive messages, accessibility, and cost-free base experience make it worth a try, especially if you're looking for a game to enjoy with your kids. "Eronoctosis: Put Yourself Together" is a 2-player online horror co-op game that offers an asymmetrical gaming experience. Engaging Storytelling: The game's narrative-focused approach can draw players into its intriguing story, making them feel invested in uncovering the mysteries it holds. Romantic Game Night: This game is very suitable to play with your partner, consider this a gaming date! Why You Might Want to Avoid: Need for a Partner: "Eronoctosis: Put Yourself Together" is designed as a 2-player co-op experience, which means you'll need a friend to play with. For those without gaming companions, this can be a limiting factor. Learning Curve: The game's mechanics may have a learning curve, and it can be challenging to coordinate actions between the two players effectively. Limited Appeal: While the game offers unique mechanics and a focus on storytelling, its complexity and narrative-heavy approach might not appeal to players seeking more straightforward or action-oriented gameplay. Lack of Checkpoints: Some players might find the lack of checkpoints frustrating, particularly during challenging sections that require repeated attempts. In summary, "Eronoctosis: Put Yourself Together" provides a distinctive cooperative horror experience that rewards effective communication and teamwork. Its mix of puzzles and narrative-driven gameplay can be engaging for those who appreciate such challenges. However, it may not be suitable for solo players or those looking for a simpler gaming experience, and the difficulty level may occasionally result in frustration. Still, it offers a unique and atmospheric journey for those willing to explore its mysteries. The Expendabros (2D Shoot 'em Up) What is "The Expendabros"? "The Expendabros" is a fast-paced, retro-style run-and-gun action game that serves as a crossover between the popular game "Broforce" and the action-packed movie franchise "The Expendables." In this game, the Expendabros assemble to take on the forces of the ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks. Players will engage in ten action-packed missions set in Eastern European forests, complete with picturesque treetop battles and hazardous lumber mills filled with enemy soldiers, heavy artillery, and dangerous circular saws. Gamers can rescue their fellow soldiers and play as seven different legendary characters, each with unique weapons and special attacks, while enjoying local multiplayer co-op with up to four players. Why You Should Play "The Expendabros": Broforce Meets "The Expendables": If you loved "Broforce" and the over-the-top action of "The Expendables" movies, "The Expendabros" is a perfect blend of both worlds. It offers the same intense gameplay with the characters and setting of "The Expendables." Fast-Paced Action: The game maintains the high-paced, adrenaline-pumping action that "Broforce" is known for. Expect explosions, chaos, and plenty of firepower as you progress through the missions. Challenging and Fun: Despite being a free-to-play game, "The Expendabros" delivers a challenging experience. It's a fun, campy game filled with humor, explosions, and action-packed sequences that will keep you entertained. Variety of Characters: Play as various Expendables characters, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. Experiment with different playstyles as you switch between characters. Suitable for Co-op Play: "The Expendabros" supports local multiplayer co-op, making it an excellent choice for gaming sessions with friends. Team up and unleash chaos together. BRO: BRO! Why You Might Want to Avoid: Limited Differentiation: Some players may find that many of the playable characters in "The Expendabros" are reskins of characters from "Broforce." This lack of differentiation might be a downside for those seeking entirely new experiences. Performance: The game's framerate is somewhat lower than that of "Broforce," which could impact the overall gaming experience, particularly on lower-end systems. Short Playtime: While enjoyable, the game offers a relatively short playtime with its ten levels. Players looking for a more extended gaming experience might find it lacking in content. In summary, "The Expendabros" is a fun and action-packed game that combines the best elements of "Broforce" with the iconic characters from "The Expendables" series. It delivers fast-paced gameplay, humor, and challenging scenarios, making it a worthwhile experience, especially for fans of either franchise. While it may not offer a lengthy adventure, its entertaining and explosive gameplay makes it a great way to pass the time with friends or on your own. Vecter (Shoot 'em Up) What is "Vecter"? Minimalist Art Style: The retro box TV-style display and minimalist art style add to the game's appeal, making it visually appealing and easy to follow. Why You Might Want to Avoid: Wordless Menus: The "Forever Update" (Vecter 1.3) introduced wordless menus, which can be confusing and frustrating for players. Navigating the menus now may require consulting a separate reference guide, making it less user-friendly. Limited Developer Support: The "Forever Update" also indicated that the developer may have moved on to other projects, potentially leaving "Vecter" with unresolved issues or bugs. Crashes: Some players have reported that the game crashes at the end of each run, which can be frustrating and disrupt the overall experience. In summary, "Vecter" is a visually stunning and addictive runner and shooter game that combines retro aesthetics with synthwave music. Its fast-paced gameplay and procedurally generated levels offer unique challenges and high replayability. While it provides an enjoyable and immersive experience, some players might be put off by the wordless menus introduced in the "Forever Update" and potential stability issues.
